Syndicate: expect innovative poetry, multi-media artworks, interactive live performances, lively debate and sparkling wine.

Syndicate is a unique initiative bringing together writers, musicians, artists and researchers working in, and in response to, digital technologies, new media and evolving network practices. It is organised by Lila Matsumoto, Jo L Walton and Samantha Walton, in collaboration with New Media Scotland and with the support of the Edinburgh Fund’s Innovative Initiative Grant.

30th August: Syndicate #6: I/O

Friday 30th August, 6.30pm – 9pm
Inspace, 1 Crichton Street, Edinburgh EH8 9AB

Syndicate 6 explores the theme of I/O: mixed media, function, memory, presence, animal, cyborg, interface, input / output. Performances come from Alex Tobin, Christina Chalmers, Rocio Jugenfeld, Lila Matsumoto, Lucy Duncombe, and Kenneth Wilson. Book your free ticket.

Alex Tobin is a freelance artist, web developer, and member of the Yuck ‘n Yum collective. He makes cross-disciplinary work with a strong focus on experimentation and collaboration, often working with animation, software programming, music, film, the internet, and performance.

Rocio Jugenfeld is a German-Spanish artist whose work aims to establish a dialogue between technology (tools) and nature (environment), between body and space, between ephemerality and persistence. She is currently undertaking practice-based research at Edinburgh College of Art, investigating the creative possibilities of media in public space.

Lila Matsumoto is one-third of Syndicate and runs SCREE, a little magazine and occasional reading series. She is currently working on a series of poems about rocks, from which her collaboration with Rocio for this evening has been hewn.

Arts graduates Kenneth Wilson and Lucy Duncombe will perform an improvisation featuring voice, prepared electric guitar and a miscellany of objects.
