Syndicate: expect innovative poetry, multi-media artworks, interactive live performances, lively debate and sparkling wine.

Syndicate is a unique initiative bringing together writers, musicians, artists and researchers working in, and in response to, digital technologies, new media and evolving network practices. It is organised by Lila Matsumoto, Jo L Walton and Samantha Walton, in collaboration with New Media Scotland and with the support of the Edinburgh Fund’s Innovative Initiative Grant.

30th August: Syndicate #6: I/O

Syndicate 6 explores the theme of I/O: mixed media, function, memory, presence, animal, cyborg, interface, input / output. Performances come from Alex Tobin, Christina Chalmers, Rocio Jugenfeld, Lila Matsumoto, Lucy Duncombe, and Kenneth Wilson. Book your free ticket.

Alex Tobin is a freelance artist, web developer, and member of the Yuck ‘n Yum collective. He makes cross-disciplinary work with a strong focus on experimentation and collaboration, often working with animation, software programming, music, film, the internet, and performance.  http://tobinalex.com/

Rocio Jugenfeld is a German-Spanish artist whose work aims to establish a dialogue between technology (tools) and nature (environment), between body and space, between ephemerality and persistence. She is currently undertaking practice-based research at Edinburgh College of Art, investigating the creative possibilities of media in public space. http://rociojungenfeld.eu/

Lila Matsumoto is one-third of Syndicate and runs SCREE, a little magazine and occasional reading series. She is currently working on a series of poems about rocks, from which her collaboration with Rocio for this evening has been hewn. http://screemagazine.wordpress.com/

Arts graduates Kenneth Wilson and Lucy Duncombe will perform an improvisation featuring voice, prepared electric guitar and a miscellany of objects. http://kennethwilsonandlucyduncombe.bandcamp.com/
